Exploring the sprawling grounds of Hogwarts Legacy reveals numerous secrets, including side quests that test your attention to detail. One early side mission, Cache in the Castle, tasks players with following a hand-drawn treasure map provided by a fellow student. Completing this quest rewards players with valuable gear appearances while encouraging thorough exploration of the castle.
Starting the Quest and Obtaining Arthur's Map
To begin the quest, players must locate Arthur Plumly near the Charms Classroom in the Astronomy Wing. Speaking with Arthur triggers a conversation where he shares a mysterious map featuring three distinct landmarks within the school. This treasure map provides visual clues rather than direct objective markers, requiring you to navigate the halls using environmental hints.
Tracking Down the Landmarks
The first landmark depicted on Arthur's map is a massive rhinoceros skeleton located in the Astronomy Wing. Heading down toward the Defence Against the Dark Arts tower leads you directly to the second landmark, a beautiful dragon fountain in the courtyard. From the fountain, proceed through the nearby doors and head up the staircase to locate the final painting landmark.
Unlocking the Hidden Treasure Cache
Upon reaching the painting of a snowy landscape, cast Accio on the handle situated at the top of the frame to reveal a hidden door. Behind the canvas lies a secret chest containing the Historian's Uniform outfit handle cosmetic. After retrieving your reward, return to Arthur Plumly near the Charms Classroom to report your discovery and complete the quest.
